Owners of a holiday home in France were converting the loft to create more living space.
The client wanted to upgrade the insulation to provide a warmer atmosphere and didn't want to waste additional energy through heaters nor apply a rigid insulation board that would make the internal environment of the building unable to breathe.
The contractor selected to use Newton Diathonite as the durable plaster created from clay and cork provides not only a thermally insulated wall but also allows the wall to remain breathable.
Diathonite, when applied either internally or externally, creates a seamless thermal barrier which eliminates any risk of cold bridging within the structure.
Benefits of Diathonite
Thermal insulation
Building has remained breathable
Increased acoustic protection
Ease of application onto undulating walls
Monolithic insulating layer
Eco-friendly
Due to the high performance of the Diathonite there is now a comfortable environment that can be lived in and used more efficiently without spending excessive amounts of money on heating.
The application has been very successful and the client is using the Diathonite again on further elements of the build.
