graefe veneered panels for St John's College

Graefe manufactured and supplied panels for a major redevelopment project at St John’s College. St John’s, Tony Blair’s former college, was founded by wealthy merchant Sir Thomas White in 1555. Nowadays, the college, situated in the heart of Oxford, caters for both undergraduates and postgraduates along with 100 fellows – approximately 600 students in all.

In one of the biggest development schemes undertaken by an Oxford college for years, St John’s multi-million pound Kendrew Quadrangle development is due to open this summer and will provide opulent, high-spec accommodation for 70 students. Some of which for fellows, have city facing walls of glass that afford spectacular views of Oxford.

Graefe manufactured and supplied panels to Kingerlee Joinery’s specification, which in turn, Kingerlee used to manufacture joinery for desks, shelves and cupboards for every room. The panels supplied by Graefe were lipped and veneered birch ply cores that had been made to measure at their factory in Thame, Oxfordshire. The beautifully matched Crown Cut European Oak veneer lends a warm feeling of lasting quality to this new flagship of St John’s.
