The Kingspan OPTIM-R Rainscreen System has provided an ultra-slim solution for a London development in the historic borough of Westminster; 73 Great Peter Street.
The project needed a solution which would meet the energy performance requirements within the London Plan, without reducing internal living space. To achieve this, Kingspan Insulation OPTIM-R Rainscreen System was specified.
When it came to insulating the rainscreen at the rear of the winter gardens, they required
Kingspan OPTIM-R vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) feature a microporous core which is evacuated, encased and sealed in a thin, gas-tight envelope. This design allows them to achieve optimum levels of insulation performance with an aged design value thermal conductivity 0.007 W/m.K. The OPTIM-R VIPs are accompanied within the Kingspan OPTIM-R Rainscreen System with OPTIM-R flex infill panels, which can be cut to fit around penetrations.
For the cladded sections at the rear of the winter gardens, 40 mm thick Kingspan Insulation OPTIM-R Rainscreen System was used. Kingspan Insulation’s expert technical team provide detailed System layouts to help streamline the installation whilst keeping the construction thickness to a minimum.
73 Great Peter Street features twenty-two luxury apartments and a further two penthouse suites, offering stunning views out across central London. The brickwork design takes inspiration from the surrounding architecture whilst remaining thoroughly modern. Winter gardens are used to add depth and definition to the design and the external facade of these recessed areas have been finished with bronze coloured metal cladding.
