Client: Malvern Hills
Type of works: supplied Siberian Larch Cladding.
A self build project in the Malvern Hills, Worcester has utilised Siberian Larch Cladding from Silva Timber Products.
Owner of the house, Martin Gloster first made contact with Silva Timber Products when he attended the Homebuilding and Renovating Show in 2008 to conduct some research on the range of timber cladding products on the market.
The Malvern Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with a rich architectural heritage and an abundance of forts, castles and priories. Martin's planning permission dictated that the new build should utilise vertical wood cladding in order to match the surrounding farm buildings and fit into the overall landscape of the rural location. The cladding selected would also need to work with the build's oak frame and provide durability and aesthetic appeal.
Martin collected a sample of Silva Timber's Siberian Larch cladding at the show and sent it off to his carpenter to check that it would meet their requirements.

Martin's house has now been completed with stunning results. The house blends perfectly with the surrounding environment and the siberian larch cladding provides both natural beauty and warmth. The cladding provides a strong contrast with the Marley Eternit Ashdowne clay roofing tiles used and works well with the oak frame and window frames.
Martin comments "I was impressed by Silva Timber when I first met the team at the Homebuilding show. They came across as knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and were happy to listen to my plans for the house and recommend a suitable product. The Siberian Larch sample which they gave to me was a good fit with my requirements in terms of the quality, durability and aesthetic appeal which I was looking to achieve for the house and my carpenters confirmed that it was perfect for the job. The delivery was prompt and the overall look of the finished build has certainly been enhanced by the Siberian Larch cladding. Thanks very much Silva Timber!"
