A pair of Stannah Xtralifts 2.0 has brought bumper access to people of all mobility levels in an exciting new multi-storey car park servicing Chequers Court retail centre in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
Part of an ongoing £5m investment in the redevelopment of Huntingdon Town Centre, the 400-space car park is a dynamic timber-clad, glass-and-concrete structure, with floor slabs, high ceilings, and few cross beams.
The duplex pair of 21-person, stretcher passenger lifts is wall mounted within concrete lift shafts in a dedicated scenic glass structure. Traction-driven, the lifts operate at a speed of 1.0m/s between four floors over a distance of 10650mm.
Located opposite the stairs, each 21-person passenger lift complements the light, spacious design aesthetic whilst addressing the demanding environment:
Double height stainless steel bump rails;
Exteriors, full-depth architraves and call stations finished in satin stainless steel, with the interior car walls finished in a textured, linen stainless steel;
Suspended downlighter ceilings, car extractor fan, hand rails, rear-wall half-height mirrors;
Two opposite facing car operating panels with Braille pushes
Black, studded, non-slip PVC floors.
Projects & Assets Manager at Huntingdonshire District Council, Chris Allen, comments: The Stannah Xtralifts represent excellent value for money and provide the heavy duty, high volume people movement needed in this distinctive, busy car park servicing the growing retail needs of Huntingdon town centre.
