Trosifol™ partner Josef Gartner GmbH in Gundelfingen has supplied Trosifol™ for The Star of St Petersburg, Europe’s tallest building spiralling 462 metres into the sky.
The building occupies a 170,000 m² footprint on the shores of the Gulf of Finland in the Primorsky District.
A 100,000 m² façade was installed made up of elements including steel, aluminum, and cold-bent glass, all with different weights of up to 700 kg.
Trosifol® Extra Stiff (ES) PVB and SentryGlas® ionoplast interlayer was used for the structural aspect of the building, with Trosifol® SC Monolayer and Multilayer for sound insulation.
On the lower floors, the façade leans outward, but leans inward on its upper floors. The individual elements with up to 8 cm thick stainless steel panels were prefabricated in Gundelfingen, Gartner’s headquarters.
The shaped panels were cut by laser and water jet and welded and bolted together into complex units.
