Vicarage Gate is a new build residential development in the heart of Kensington’s cherry tree conservation area in the royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The building has a strikingly unique design on the main façade using grey and white mottled faience briquettes positioned in a random pattern with recessed and projecting panels.
Each apartment in the development has its own south-facing outdoor space as well as access to a private on-site gym. The coordination and integration of the main façade and support systems required a very complex design and careful planning. The project covered 5 floors with a façade surface area of 500m2, the façade material was a Tichelar Ceramic supported using a bespoke RJ facades substructure, the ceramic panels were hung to create an open joint design, this required horizontal rails and brackets using undercut FZP anchors.
